"Yeah, islamophobia is just a buzzword to defend islam from criticism. Any phobia is defined as irrational fear, but there is absolutely nothing irrational on being afraid of islam. Hence Islamophobia can't exist."

Actually, homophobia is the one I'm not entirely willing to put away religion on. Because if you go back to before abrahamic religions had a strong influence, a lot of places WERE pretty fine with the gay. You mention Japan - in the sengoku era, it was perfectly normal to be plowing a dude if you were a dude (It's harder to find out about women and other women, to be fair). Not only normal, but healthy. Sure, you may have had a wife, but that's because the bloodline needed continuing. Were they at modern era sensibilities? No. But they were better then than they were for a lot of the modern era. China's in a similar boat - except they did have actual, factual gay marriage in I think Fujian (and China had more laws on social structure and the gay relationships - it was NOT okay for a higher status man to be penetrated by a lower status one, f'rex).

Without that sorta backsliding, sometimes directly dating to the growth of abrahamic religion (often, but not always, Christianity) in the area, I wouldn't even give it a second thought. But at the end of the day, even then the religion is hijacking existing fears. And non-heterosexist abrahamic religions exist, and pretending religion is the primary factor is just bloody nonsense.

Which means all those other Christians who justify transphobia with the Bible are talking out of their ass. As I recall,t hey use the same line in the bible for tatoos as for trans people, but I don't really care about chapter and verse because I just don't give a damn. But hey, you wanna talk more accepting about trans people than the average atheist, I'm down: Iran will bloody pay for GRS, there's just the caveat of 'why' that sucks. Great if you're actually trans (and straight), probably horrific if you're a cis gay. But on the subject of atheists and trans people? Honestly often better. Atheists love to use BIOTRUTH and philosophical blather on why the status quo is right.
