A year ago, my buddy invited me to his wedding in Seattle. I was excited for his wedding and also excited for the opportunity to visit Bungie HQ...but I don't know anymore.

Actually - there was a fella who was on here a couple of weeks back. Went around giving high fives, told us his story, and staffers even joined in to comment in this sub.

What we generally knew was that u/The_Underhanded went there with good intentions.

He knew the game had problems, he knew that it should improve; went there, greeted those working on it, and tried to boost morale.

Everyone loved it. Feel-good story. Positive stuff we like as human beings? Correct?

But we still had actual people go:

  • Oh, their morale is terrible? Good for them. It's working! Let's keep it up guys!
  • Good thing we know they're miserable over there.
  • It's great that they're feeling bad, it just means they're more serious in this game now.
  • What's this OP doing, being a cheerleader and an apologist?

These were actually comments that were highly visible and upvoted - yep - you had people thinking that way and found others who agreed with them.

Point is:

Which subset would you be part of?

  • Someone who knows the game is flawed, needs improvement, and knows the staff fucked up - but still thinks optimistically because he'll be able to meet people who are designed a world he liked?
  • Or someone who's only thought in every hour is to find out how miserable people are; or to find the negativity in something that, in humans, is generally accepted (ie. boosting morale, making friends)?

Be the Light, Guardian.
