This year's UBE curve...

The way I understand it, when the MBE median score is low it makes the overall exam harder to pass. The reason (which I guess makes sense...I think) is that the MPT/MEE is graded and then the MBE median score is applied to those grades in order to "rank" the MPT/MEE scores. So, if the median MBE score is low, then it will lower MPT/MEE grades in a sense. If you consider this year's median MBE was 140.4, so that means the MPT/MEE median is also 140.4, which means that an examinee "right in the middle" of both sections would get a 180.8. If you're in Alaska, this means right in the middle is squeaking by with a passing score. Anyway, I think that's why the median MBE being low is so detrimental because it affects the MPT/MEE as well. ....or maybe nothing I just wrote makes any sense...lol
