Yes, that's the spot!

Unfortunately I learned as a veterinary nurse that you can educate people til you're blue in the face and many of them still won't get it.

One owner had a morbidly obese cat that continued to gain weight for years despite years of weight clinics, gentle reminders, firm reality checks, writing out detailed plans for her to follow, and one of the nurses even offering to take the cat home with her for a few weeks for an intensive "boot camp". He's now had multiple surgeries for weight-related urinary tract problems and has developed diabetes - he lost a bit of weight when the diabetes started, purely because he was so ill he almost died, but now he's back up to almost as heavy as he started. This woman claims to adore her cat but she would rather let him live a shortened life full of painful and stressful medical conditions rather than "deprive" him by putting him on a diet.

Similar story played out with many of the obese pets we saw to be honest, no matter how easy you try to make it for them. Some people are just too stupid for the privilege of owning pets.
