Yin Yang of World Hunger, by David Revoy

This sort of comment really really pisses me off. And I am biased.

First of all there's an underlying assumption that other people are unintelligent and unable to think for themselves, or manage themselves. Which is incredible, seeing as most places where colonisation took place (and ever since they wouldn't exist without this), had their own systems of civilization in place for ages. Yes, most societies have their flaws, but they also definitely knew how to take care of themselves, and feed themselves. It's well known that in order to destabilize a place, you make them dependent, usually meaning removing all sort of industry and trading that used to be in place before. I mean...how do you think rural communities survive? Or better yet if you and 10 other people were the only survivors in a place, you would sure figure out how to organize yourselves and work with what was there. It's human nature. To assume that other people don't have brains is ridiculous. Maybe they have different priorities but that's a different story.

There's another assumption that a huge, modern, industrialized agricultural system is better than or was asked for, than whatever was in place before. The pretense of 'giving' someone something is usually how people justify imposing things on others. It's done...aaalll the time. And it's also ignorant of the usual history of struggle against the changes being brought upon a people. Yes, some people do accept it, but usually the people at the top, within that society, while everyone else didn't have a choice. Often, people just assume..it was just accepted, so then all of a sudden, people are why are you not using what you've been given. Ah...it hurts to hear people say this.

Evil is something that comes about in lots of small acts happening overtime. No...you can't call white people 'evil' because it's pretty complex. Just like you can't ignore the complexities of what happened in a place to lead to what happened today. Cause what you're saying reads like ' look at how white people came in with their superior systems and look how the African's were too unintelligent to know how to get with the program'. And that is not right. It's just not. I'm so angry at your statements that it just comes off as a lack of understanding to me at how wrong it sounds.

We all know there's a lot of corruption and mismanagement by those in power all around the world including 'developing' countries which hinders a lot of progress for groups of people. But we also know that

Anyway.. 'the haven't figured out how to feed themselves thing' wow I'm amazed at that statement. I really hope other people see this, just to counter it.
