You'll go to the heaven you believe in

But it's just easier for you to complain about a suicidal person's beliefs about death, than to admit that the societal stressors were to blame and that the world and life in today's society is in fact just a mediocre boring shit hole for most people.

I did not claim or say that 'the afterlife' would be the main reason for a person to commit suicide. Of course it is not. It can be unbearable physical pain. Or unbearable mental pain due to trauma, loss of a loved one, rejection...

Or it can be unbearable mental pain due to...nothing. Due to malfunctioning brain chemistry that makes you feel sad and alone and worthless even if you are surrounded by loving people and are blessed with good fortune.

Or like you said: boredom.

I have been on and off suicidal for twenty years (age 12 to 32). Maybe even before I was 12. I've been institutionalized for months, twice. I've been hospitalized for a failed attempt (only once, because I swore that I would succeed the next time). I have therapy and medication that help me deal and they just now work. After a search for six years. So, it is not that I don't understand the feeling of wanting to die. And it is also not that I don't understand people turning to religion in times of despair. I tried to find Jesus myself too. People will try everything when in despair, and rightfully so.

What I said is that there is no afterlife to look out for when you die. If one longs for an afterlife where everything is ok, then that person does not want to die. That person wants to live, but under different circumstances and hopes that that will happen in 'the afterlife'.

The chances of that beautiful comforting afterlife happening are - at least- highly debatable. If you believe in the Bible, then people who commit suicide go to hell. What I think what will happen is nothingness.

My 'problem' with posts like op's is that it lures people into believing that they can live another life, a better one, a happier one, by committing suicide.

But the grand majority of people would not change their believes because of op's post anyways. So it does not really matter after all.
