Young Man Suffering Grade 4 Glioblastoma Read His Story

My name is Mateusz Dobrowolski,

I am 27 years old. In the year 2012 I finished Polyitechnika University in Gdansk for mechanical engineering. Upon graduation, I found a job in my hometown where I work as a designer in this field; I have been working here ever since. I love sports, and used to play amateur soccer, which is my favourite sport. Everything in life seemed to be perfect until I turned 25 years old.

In March 9th, 2013 I ended up in the Hospital of Gdansk, Poland due to a terrible headache. After several tests I discovered that I had a brain tumour. Little did I know how terrible cancer could be. I was so naïve because I thought that after surgery everything would go back to the way it was before, but I was wrong. The tumour was the size of a large tangerine, and was located on the right side of my frontal lobe. Unfortunately, my tumour could not be removed in one piece and thus, my battle with Glioblastoma grade 4 cancer had only just begun.

Luckily, the surgery didn’t negatively impact the rest of my brain and I am still the same person that I was before. I finished radiation and chemotherapy and then continued with just chemotherapy, which I finished in December 2013. Until July 2015 the rest of the tumour was shrinking, but in December 2015 my MRI showed that the cancer had returned.

Throughout the whole time that I was fighting my cancer, I became more aware of my sickness. I'm continuing to fight this battle with any means possible. I found a treatment on a page called ALIVI online and in an article I discovered a method of potentially treating my cancer called Nano Therm. It is a non-surgical method that can treat progressed cancer patients in Germany. This therapy gives me a chance to get better and to live a normal life. This page gave me hope, but the cost of such a treatment is too large for me to handle. In Poland there is only one way to treat my cancer, which is surgery and chemotherapy, but I need to try something different if I am going to beat my cancer for good.

Day by day I am going to work and trying not to think about the ticking time bomb in my head and how little time I have left. Even with my family contributing as much money as they can, I will be forever grateful to anyone who is willing to make a contribution to my treatment.

My goal on GoFundMe is set at $95,000 dollars (around 60,000 Euros) because that is about how much I need for the treatment alone. I will be happy with any little contributions, shares or likes that will help me reach more people.

Many thanks!!

Mateusz
