Your coach or LeBron James?

Everyone but the Spurs seem to be picking Lebron, and swapping Lebron for Stevens would absolutely be the best move to advance the franchise and accelerate the teams towards contending.

However, and please hear me out, I wouldn't swap Lebron for Brad Stevens.

A big factor of this is probably that we recently won a title and were contenders for years, so I'm probably coming from a different perspective than teams who are dying for a ring.

As far as I'm concerned it's not all about winning at all costs, or the end justifying the means. The last two months of last season was some of the most enjoyable Celtics basketball I've seen. We were underdogs, we had no stars, we were projected bottom five but Brad had them playing team basketball and it was great to watch as a fan. Everyone was competing and leaving it all out on the court every game. We were exceeding all possible expectations.

I want to see what Stevens can do if we add a couple more quality players. I've bought into this rebuild. I love watching the style of basketball that we're playing.

Personally I'd rather bring in some young guys, keep building up and one day contend with a great coach playing a fun system and the risk that it might not work, instead of giving up Stevens and becoming the Boston Lebrons and being contenders for 5 or so more seasons.

It's more risky to go with Stevens than the sure thing of Lebron, but I think that the reward and the journey, as a fan, would be so much better if we follow through on this rebuild.

I'd probably regret it if the rebuild fails, and we could have contended with Lebron, but in the end it's just basketball.
