Wouldn't say ex friend, but distant now. Both my friend and his wife were great friends of mine. Same circle of friends, common interests and open door policy around the house. Best friend was always a great guy and I loved his wife to be. Where things get complicated is when the engagement happened. Both the friend and fiance come from religious families. However for the last 25 years they have not been religious people or even a regular church attending couple. As soon as they get engaged, it becomes like a battle of the parents over who is better and the most devote. My two best friends, who were not religious, and had commited every sin possible according to their beliefs, (parents did as well) changed. Now instead of the good times and conversations, it is all about how he prays for me, and all the good things in their life are a blessing from god. Honestly can not have a single conversation with either one without god being brought up. Now before you get mad reddit, I don't have a problem with religion. Just showing how much it changes people and has impacted my relationship with who I considered my best friend.
