Your experiences with respite foster care?

And as to why foster kids don’t go everywhere, often they can’t. Our state doesn’t let you kids take the kids out of state without the judges permission or out of the county without prior written approval— obviously they have kidnapping concerns etcx

So an example of that would be— My family is out of state, so I wouldn’t be able to visit if someone got sick. And another example is that we had a vacation planned before we knew we would get foster kids, so we needed respite for that as we were traveling out of the country.

And babysitting is a thing ,even for regular parents. My brother and sister in law regularly leave their kids with the grandparents and go someplace for the evening/ weekend. You can’t do that with foster kids unless you have respite.

So it’s really really important for there to be plenty of respite providers!!
