Your Foundation Story

My story is I've been told all my life that because I'm fair, that I'm pink toned. Pink, pink, pink. I've been told this by countless makeup counters. Only, everything they match me to makes me look incredibly red or orange...just strange all around. Learned in my 20s that pale skin can absolutely be yellow toned, buy L'Oreal True Matcha W1 and the color is frickin' glorious on me but the formulation is a bit wonky for me.

Then, I start working on my skincare. After struggling with the whole "am I oily, or dry," question I learned that I'm sort of both. A little combo, and a little dehydrated in some areas. At the time, foundations for oily skin clings to any dry patch or dehydration line making me look older. Dry skin foundations instantly melt away and look pretty gross. Still lots of clinging too! I then began my skincare journey. Glycolic acid changes my skin and I never physically exfoliate again.

At this point, I mostly deal with t-zone oiliness and central unevenness as a result of the skincare. I really enjoy light coverages now.

My favorite foundations either tinted moisturizers or thin, high pigment formulations I can sheer out. Sometimes I even enjoy just dusting powder foundation lightly through my t-zone. Beauty sponges are my BFFs with liquid foundation. I place just a few drops on the center of my face and sheer it out to the edges.
