OP has 800K hotel points and is asking for advice on if he/she should use them with their friends.

Here is my perspective:

Hotel points are LIKE monopoly money - they are only worth something in a vacuum - Just like any reward points. And since OP has accrued these points FOR FREE (as a perk of traveling for work) than there is even less to hold sacred.

If I was OP I would def offer up at least one night for free on my points, possibly more. My friends wouldn't expect me to pay for it all, but know that I would be happy to use my points on them because we are friends.

I suppose it boils down to how stingy OP is and what kind of friendships he has.
