Ok I love this topic!

I think of my own husband, the world's most obvious FN (I think!).

I would say that he is a very serious & intellectual person, and a real take-charge person to boot! He is also about the most organised and technical person you could think of. The idea of a hippie-dippy dreamy Phoebe-from-Friends' free spirit couldn't be further from the truth of his personality.

So, the connection I draw between FN and his personality is: a love of action, getting things done, being very sociable, putting energy out into the world, a headstrong independence, a disinterest in fancy formality for its own sake. He dislikes small talk and prefers to get past the nonsense to the "meat" of the subject at hand! I see his "approachability" as being more about informality - his physical presence is fairly intimidating (which is great for night time walks in the inner city).

Added to those (what I perceive as) "N" qualities is a Sharp Yang undercurrent, a competitive, take-charge forcefulness (in a nice way! he is a teddy bear underneath!).

Therefore to me how i see various aspects of the FN style essence perfectly suit his personality? His shape already provides sufficient "shape" to not need additional structure/stiffness to come from clothing, and this aligns to his love of action, clothing that gives "room to move" looks correct. He looks great with a sense of boldness, colour and energy to his style - all very FN!

I think sometimes the little descriptive tags given to each ID can seem like a limiting or specific stereotype, but I do think they can encompass more possibility and there's generally a way to connect with (but not define) someone's personality.
