your labor value is getting stolen

I have some specific examples relating to this. When I worked in private security, some of the services they offered were 24h alarm responses & car park releases across the city & extended areas.

To keep it brief: For car parks, the individual would contact us directly and we would charge $50 in cash to let them out. This was a 5 minute job in general. The only thing to keep us there longer was when we'd tell them over the phone that it had to be cash and they'd turn up with a card anyway lol. Since there was no middleman (alarms came with job numbers registered to the dispatch company) it would have been extremely easy to take advantage of this, but despite the strong desire to do so I never did. I was paid $27/h but the company clearly values their services in excess of this. They charged more for alarms but I was never told the exact figure. In any case, we did all of the legwork and saw only a little of the profits. It was hard work sometimes.
