YOUR VERDICT ON THE RETURN OF DOCTOR MYSTERIO ( The opinion the people at the Doctorwhotv)

I don't really put much stock, if any, in this article's assessment of the episode. According to their data (which I also take with a grain of salt knowing not everyone who saw the episode made sure to hop on over to Doctor Who Tv to score it), the episode received an average score of 6.9, and was therefore a disappointment. 7 is apparently their benchmark for "good" episodes. It also heavily relies on comparing it to other episodes, particularly Christmas specials, and points out that TRODM is relatively low on the list. Personally, I think a lot of Doctor Who, especially the Christmas specials, is pretty damn good. Therefore it's hardly upsetting where this episode is placed relative to the rest of it. In every list I have seen that ranks all episodes from best to worst, I always find episodes I really enjoy well past the half-way point (really I think they usually have to get in the bottom 20 before I find some I truely don't like). Personally I find myself thinking their scores for other episode are ridiculous anyway (see Zygon Invasion's ranking, which to me was easily worse than TRODM and all of Series 9, Zygon Inversion really being the true hero of that 2-parter). But it is true that not everyone was crazy about the episode, and I believe there are a few reasons for that. Firstly, everyone got hyped down from that one trailer for some reason, and a lot of people can't change their minds after they've decided something is bad. Secondly, we've become accustomed to a bit more danger and suspense than was in this episode of Doctor Who, this one being mostly a feel-good Christmas humor trip. Lastly, it was all we got this year, meaning this episode had more weighing on it than most episodes of the show have had. Overall, I usually don't put much stock in the opinions and polls of random internet sites and viewers I've never met who make like the show for completely different reasons than I do. But r/gallifrey is different in that I care more about most of your opinions, and I've seen a lot of postitive reactions from you all after the episode, so that's really all I care about
