Youtube commenter lectures us about robot movies

If you read Yuval Noah Harrari’s Homo Deus, it makes a very interesting thesis that human beings only perceive themselves to be sapient because we as individuals are aware of ourselves and thus assume that other individuals similar to us (other human beans) are also self-aware.

In other words, there may not be any true consciousness at all. This is because current scientific analysis of the brain have determined that the emotions and feelings that comprise a “consciousness” within us can be boiled down to extremely complex algorithms that occur in the brain, similar to a highly complex computer.

Thus, advanced computers in the future could have consciousness, except not in the ways we might imagine since we differ so greatly from them.
