No, but that the current schism between left/true and right/false has been made exponentially worse by the right buying in after Trump's win. It used to just be angry liberals slinging "it's not my fault that truth leans liberal" and the conservatives would actually DISPUTE that and make valid points.... but now the right-wing establishment has realized "oh it actually works. We don't have to make any sense or tell the truth at all." and thus the situation has totally degraded because they bought in and started producing nonsense which now is being fought by various companies and organizations.

TLDR if fake news hadn't succeeded, we would be seeing less of it instead of the current explosion.
