YSK that if you nose is outside of the mask, the mask is not effective

I agree the lack of leadership is a problem. It's also somewhat difficult to even get cloth masks some places. I had a really hard finding them and had to use just a bandana for weeks. Nobody in my city is selling them in-store, NOBODY. So the only option is to order online, which takes time to ship.

Ordering online is a nightmare. I looked in several retailer websites (e.g. Walmart, Amazon) and many of them took weeks to ship. Many had HORRIBLE reviews saying they didn't fit or fell apart after the first wash, which I had to rule out. Many of the ones left were designer-brand or otherwise extremely overpriced. Even the not-overpriced ones were still somewhat expensive, often $15 apiece or $20-30 for a two-pack.

I got a couple really cheap 2-ply masks for about $20, and had to pay a couple more too because one per person is not enough--because they need washing, each person needs at least two masks to cycle between. That could get really expensive to the point of unaffordable for families with 3, 4, 5 members. A family of four would need about 8 masks at a probable minimum of $10-$15 apiece.
