YSK that you might be one of the 1-3% of people cannot visualize stuff at all. It can interfere with certain methods of teaching and therapy techniques. Most people who can't visualize don't realize it until it's pointed out to them (because they don't realize that other people can).

This makes me wonder if I have aphantasia? I always thought I could visualize things, I love reading, I draw and have an idea of where I’m going with my art as I go.... but if I close my eyes and visualize a star it’s not as if I can literally see anything? I’m not like actually seeing the star I have an idea or a feeling sort of of what it would look like, I can kind of “see” it conceptually I can change what this conception feels like or would look like and I can imagine that..... but I do not at any time ever actually see anything.

Another thing is I’ve taken psychedelics before and people I’ve been with have described seeing things when their eyes are closed, crazy scenes they’re seeing.... and I close my eyes I just see colors waving or bursting. Sometimes it’s like I’m underwater in a colorful water sometimes it can be like a laser show or fireworks. But never scenes or images exactly.

Do I have aphantasia?
