Zeiss Smart Lenses Get Right What Google Glass Got So Wrong

I think it would be more along the lines of them either not being creative enough(unlikely), or they don't want to take any risks(likely) - eg: they refuse to release a pair of glasses that runs less than 10 hours on a charge sort of thing.

It doesn't take an engineer to do the math on the volume of a battery to figure out you could do it. Here:

A Samsung S5 battery has a volume of 19542.6 mm3, and has 2800mah @ 3.7v.. or, 6.9 mm3 per mah. If you only used the temple part(the long frame that goes from the hinge to the curved ear piece) to store batteries that were 3.5 x 3.5 x 100mm you would have 1225 mm3 per temple, or 2450 mm3 or combined between the two. Thats 335 mah @ 3.7v, and has added no 'bulk' that would be out of the scope of a regular pair of glasses.

If you used the ear pieces, at 40mm x 3.5mm x 3.5mm you get an extra 980 mm3 of battery space(combined between both) which is an additional 142 mah @ 3.7v for a combine total between the earpieces and temples of 477mah.

Now, lets consider that the s5 battery isn't actually that great, and you can get better now, squeezing an extra 10% wouldn't be difficult - so 524mah battery.

That is a start - consider the apple watch has a mere 250mah, and the number doesn't seem as low any more. 525mah would be more than enough for a 'start'. That's about a fifth of most new-gen phone batteries. Assuming this device used the same amount of power, that would get you aprox 3-4 hours use per charge... but realistically, this device would use substantially less energy than a new-gen phone because it simply doesn't have the processing power going on, so more like 6 hours of use if not more. That means for a daily user, a fast charge at lunch time would be all thats needed to use this 12 hours a day - about the amount most people would probably be using something like this.

Like I said.. it's possible, they just don't want to do it 'half assed' when a lot of people, like myself, really would be happy to have something like this even if it meant a mid day charge was required.
