Zillow, Opendoor announce multi-year partnership

The vast majority of people who get cash offers choose not to accept them. For Zillow, the Opendoor cash offers are nothing more than seller bait. They will monetize those leads through PA. If a cash offer is accepted, Zillow get almost pure margin on the referral, where Opendoor carries all the costs and risk. Opendoor doesn't know how to operate profitably, so growth is their only option. Q3 is already going to be a growth and profitability disaster so this is their last play. This act of desperation buys them a little more time to figure it out. The market conditions have exposed their vaporware and it is a matter of time until their lenders/investors abandon them. The twitter shills and data amateurs will make some noise but go down with the ship. The endgame will be very interesting to watch at least.
