Zos yourr game barely works and you want us to spend 100+$ on a house in a video game

To be honest, Warzone "2.0" had me thinking about this yesterday. I find it so strange that today, in 2022, you can invest hundreds of dollars into a piece of media that will cease to exist in 2 years. This goes beyond subscription fees for streaming services, it's as if you bought every episode of "house of the dragon" or "the rings of power" as they came out, only to be wiped off the face of the earth after completion.

I don't usually invest much money or time in any online video game or streaming service, but I've been subscribed to ESO+ on and off now for about 2 years and have built a small empire I'm pretty invested in. But knowing the release of Warzone 2 (and Overwatch 2, I suppose?) has me thinking about the longevity of the things I've earned in this game.

I bought Morrowind for 3 dollars on GoG a couple years ago. I own the .iso and executable files for that game. So much so that I've been able to port it to my android. A game that I first played when I was 12. All of that progress I've made in that game is mine - so long as I have the hardware to play it.

The same cannot be said for all of the houses and gear sets and mounts and motifs I've collected in ESO.
