ZR: Zombie Riot Oculus Connect Trailer

This sort of thing perfectly demonstrates my issue with VR gaming at the moment; the games seem to exist to justify VR, while VR effectively adds nothing to gaming in general. This is just an arcade gun game without the hassle of going to an arcade.

This is no criticism of the technology, but I think a comparison to cinema 3D is apt. When cinema was pushing 3D really hard in the early days, they just post-production 3Dified everything, which added nothing to the films. Only when a good director gets their hands on 3D and plans around it does 3D really work. Otherwise, it's just a gimmick to sell more expensive tickets, just as VR is a hardware gimmick.

My point is, this crap right here is only going to hurt VR long term, because people will start to assume that VR is just a gimmick. What it needs is games which are designed to use VR as a clever core mechanic in a way which enhances the whole experience. At the moment, so far as I can see, only flying games are doing this, and it's largely a happy coincidence than intentional design.
