this is what needs to happen in every western country: a shift of the electoral reality so that open borders policy is an untenable position for any party to have, either a left party or a right party. open borders are national suicide and national suicide simply shouldn’t be on the menu in an election.

right wing election victories are great but they are very temporary and only last a few years. a cultural shift like this, though, could create a new political reality that lasts for decades, where there is simply no party advocating for open borders because it’s a losing issue.

one can only wish that the democrats were smart enough to do this, to try and steal support from trump by tacking right on immigration. instead those idiots are going left and calling to abolish ice.
