Arkansas vs Michigan

Where in Michigan? It's a big state and I've seen a lot of it. Like AR it depends on where you are. Grand Rapids is great and surprisingly the CC is a surprisingly legit college. Kendall College of Art and Design is pretty great as well. Founders beer is fantastic with lots of great people.

Where I am in Arkansas is not as professional, IMO, at least from what I've seen. It is almost like a time-warp here. LR is conjested with shitty drivers. Little Rock has a big crime problem. I have heard a lot of stories of people sticking guns and other people's faces here, good folks and bad folks alike. I'm not a fan, but I ended up buying a pistol and open carrying on occasion because there's a lot of crime in my city and somehow was fortunate enough to make enemies with a drug dealer that moved in next door. For the most part, in Michigan that would be a very rare occasion and definitely look down on. I have told my stories to others and they understand without batting an eye. That being said, it is gorgeous here but it's not exactly the land of opportunity or progression. A lot of local people ask me why I moved here, in a tone that suggests the Arkansas sucks. Personally I dig it well enough. I came here from Corporate America and now work for myself. There are not a lot of good jobs here, at least where I'm at, the job market is fantastic in Michigan right now. The weather is fantastic in Arkansas, in comparison to freezing Michigan. If you can handle the cold, you might want to give Michigan a try. If you are bent on coming to Arkansas, Fayetteville and that area would probably be pretty good. I lived in Michigan for 29 years and have been living here for 3. Oh, there seems to be more drugs down here as well. Meth, like the rest of the country, is quite rampant here. I talked to a 20 year old who looked at me crazily when I said I had never smoked meth after his inquiry, he was middle to upper middle class kid and we were in a sought after vocational college. He just seemed like a regular kid and also told me about his old heroin problem like it was normal. From my experience there are more drug users down here, not saying Michigan is great on that, but there seems to be hey beds last and generally nuts much heroin. It's hard to say though, things have changed.
