Brenden Morrow Battling Brain Injury

This is rough to hear. I hope treatment does help and Morrow can be every bit the person he wants to be for his family and for himself.

But there's a larger discussion here that is hard. I love college football and hockey. With what we know about brain trauma now, I feel kinda awful for liking them.

I'll always love them, but I'd totally understand if those sports just went away given the damage they can inflict on those that play them.

Admittedly, there's a future for hockey without hits (I always liked the skill players and shots and dangles and passes and saves more than the hitting anyway), but it's weird and hard to get to. And I'm not sure one exists for football.

Is a person's longterm health worth my entertainment? Even when that person is so well compensated?

I lean towards no. There will be an avenue for the athletically gifted to capitalize on their talents without putting themselves at such obvious risk.

But then, the vast majority of the world isn't afforded the peak or the ability to sustain for an entire lifetime on a few short years as professional athletes are.

There's no easy answers. Which I guess makes this a long way of saying "life is hard and complex".

I sincerely wish that Brenden can get better and that he is at peace with the decisions he has made. He'll always be a Stars captain in my heart. I hope that can help.
