He is actually not wrong in saying that there are regular protests that happens in China all the time

Most of these protests are labelled as non-political. But in reality, most protest in most parts of the world aren't political by definition. Not all protests that happen in America is going to be a full blown BLM protest. Sometimes you'll see protest against eating meat, an apartment being built, or whatever else that might be. This is also true in China as well.
