Coworkers tool box costs more than my truck

I'm not a mechanic.

Do you really think someone making even, say, 100k per year should be spending 25k on this?

  1. They spend 25k all at once. Thats less of a stupid move, but for someone making 100k thats probably a good bit of their savings unless they've been working for a good while for a box that does the exact same thing that every other box does. I'm not a Kobalt fanatic, its just an example, but I could buy three full size kobalts, have the same storage space, and spend about $20,000 less.

  2. They finance it. Snap-On rates are something like 20%. Even if its a reasonable rate, this is still insane. Assuming a $100k salary, financing an item WITH NO REAL VALUE that is 20% of your annual take home before interest, is just crazy. Finance a 25k car and you'll have a vehicle. Finance a 25k tool box and you have a metal fucking box that does the same thing as cheaper boxes.

It just never makes sense. I think the only customer for this that wouldnt be making a reckless decision would possibly be a business. Maybe a mining or aerospace company buys 20 of these. Thats about the only not reckless use I know of.
