Hyper also sponsors several riders that were in the X Games...... and their frames are handmade in the USA...
Multiple markets = more money to be made.
Some Snafu parts are also at Walmart, but they make good product in general.
There's a dif between performance product, and general retail store product.
Example: New Balance stores don't have NB shoes that are under $100. But stores like Kmart do... because they are shit quality and made cheaply. NB models = higher the number, the better the quality. That's why kmart NB shoes would be like a NB 600 or something/lower. Meanwhile the performance stores don't sell anything under an 880 model, and up to a 1600.
Source: I have been in the retail shoe business, and then the wholesale shoe business. Also, it's common sense.
You prob think Mongoose has always been shitty, too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BIj9HQzsKxs
NOTE: I do not think Hyper product at Walmart are any good. And I would not recommend running a Hyper wheel on your bike. Again: they do make great frames though - a lot of them are handmade in the USA by Mike Laird.
