Made a trip to Cedar Point for the first time since I was a child and loved every minute! Favorite ride was Gatekeeper ;)

I think you're just minimizing people who simply have a far higher tolerance and capacity for intensity than you do. Maverick and Steel Vengeance don't jostle or bang you around, they simply produce intense forces that require a bit more fitness to tolerate. The reason 99% of CP fans like Maverick/Steel Vengeance more than Gatekeeper isn't because we're psychos who enjoy pain lol. Its because they're outrageously fun, forceful, unique, packed with air time, and still incredibly smooth on top of it all. Gatekeeper by comparison is just another B&M and probably their most poorly paced Wing coaster. I'm truly glad you found a new favorite coaster but the lot of us who don't enjoy Gatekeeper much aren't just masochists. We just enjoy feeling actual forces on thrill rides, and I respect others just enjoy more of that feeling of adventure on a roller coaster and aren't trying to test their force tolerance.

I also think you're confusing smoothness with forcefulness. Steel Vengeance and Maverick are forceful but to say they're not smooth isn't fair. Maverick is very smooth and Steel Vengeance (And really all RMC hybrids) is one of the smoothest coasters in the world. But yes, they have sharp transitions that do require some body strength to absorb and flow with comfortably and this will probably turn you off more the further you are from 20.

And the other popular favorite, Millennium Force, is one of the smoothest rides in existence. So not sure why you think more intense rides can't be smooth!

I am very glad you enjoyed your visit though!
