I would be concerned. It all depends on the dealership.

I built my car online and then sent my build code to a few different dealerships in my state. (I was willing to search out of my state if necessary.) The first dealership told me the deposit was $2500 (NON-refundable) and I would have to wait two months before I could even place my order. The second dealership asked for a refundable $1k deposit but admitted I should expect a delivery in 9-12 months (which is understandable because a lot of the 2021 pre-orders haven't even been delivered yet). The last dealership was a winner. I lucked out and took the spot of someone who opted out. I have communicated with the SA through email and text. In fact, my SA made sure I had a copy of my build after converting it to the 2023 pricing to verify and sign off. He would follow up with me without being pushy.

I could have applied for BMW financing online. The info would have been submitted to the dealership I chose. I believe once you are approved you can set up everything online or in the app.

I have not needed to step one foot in a dealership.
