Actor Ronald Reagan (40th POTUS) poses for a sculpture class at the University of Southern California in 1940.

Sure, that’s a fair opinion to have.

But everyone on Reddit likes to make out Reagan to be the worst president ever, ignoring all the good stuff he did. It would be like saying JFK was the worst ever, focusing only on his philandering while ignoring how he got us through the Cuban Missile Crisis. Or saying Eisenhower was he worst ever, focusing on his corruption while ignoring all the work he did to maintain peace in the early years of the Cold War.

Reagan deserves plenty of criticism. But I think it’s trendy to hate on him right now, because of how his political successors, like Gingrich, Bush, and Trump, have taken policies that he pioneered and taken them into crazy places Reagan never intended, or wanted them to go.

Blaming Reagan for the current insanity that is the GOP is kind of like blaming the Gracchi for the reign of Marius and Caesar. Related? Sure. But unfair to lump them together.
