Advice for an anxious rider

Pretty much the same boat I’m in at the moment, I’m a shift worker so riding at night is preferable for me but I’m also a fair weather little bitch and the enthusiasm waned after a few winter night runs to Stanwell Top when it got down to single digits, I’m going to buy some summer gear and jump back on the bike and hope the little skill I developed over the last 2 months of not riding having ridden has diminished too much.

I’m surrounded by busy roads but I have quite a few years on the road and a good local knowledge which helps a lot.

It’s good to work on the basics without having to deal with other traffic because you can build the muscle memory that makes operating the vehicle a secondary task to knowing what is happening around you, shit changes in a fraction of a second you don’t want to think about what you have to do, but have already started to do it.
