This is an adult pygmy falcon. They are the smallest bird of prey in Africa.

As someone who was born in America it's been tragically fascinating to watch the regression happening there. This Greek tragedy is why I only return when absolutely necessary.

Social media has conditioned you to label ridiculous and harmful stupidity as "non-inflammatory." Just because you're unaware of the harm of statement doesn't mean the harm doesn't exist.

How much time have you spent as a wildlife veterinarian, biologist, zoologist, or qualified conservationist? How many continents have you traveled to in service of wildlife? Have you seen the harmful consequences of the anti-zoo/PETA/HSUS narratives up close? How much time have you spent educating indigenous populations on these continents about the importance of wildlife?

I already know the answers, because if you were informed you would know that the "handcuff" narrative is anything but "non-inflammatory." But, like them, you charge head first with only your ignorance in tow.

People have become so accustomed to allowing dangerous narratives to grow that even life saving vaccines are controversial on a massive scale, requiring laws and lotteries to entice people to save their own lives.

People vaccinating themselves isn't my life's work, though. Conservation, treatment, and education about wildlife is. In that world the anti-zoo/PETA"handcuff" crowd is every bit as harmful and ignorant as the people refusing vaccines, except wildlife doesn't have the luxury of legislating the stupid away with mandatory compliance.

Again, just because you don't understand the danger of something doesn't mean it's not harmful. Why you chose to interject yourself is an entirely different question, but I assume you're the same person who made the original comment. Either way, both accounts ultimately end up with the same fate.
