Black students of Duke, how has your experience been?

Hey there, I'm not black, but I can speak from my experience as a non-white student myself.

According to https://facts.duke.edu/ in Fall 2020, Duke was 9% African American, 21% Asian American, 41% White, 7% Hispanic American, 10% international, and 12% other. For comparison, the US is 60-70% white. This means Duke is more diverse than average, and the majority of students are people of color.

Personally I found Duke very welcoming to people of all backgrounds. Yes, it's in the south, but as a top university Duke has many more students out of state and internationally. Both the students and professors lean pretty liberal. I've never experienced any racism or discrimination during my time here.
