Digital Foundry - Half Life: Alyx - A game changer for VR?

And what exactly is your criteria of a "game changer"? What does HL:A do, besides being a (well made) game, that makes it a "game changer" for VR in general?

Many of the HL:A's mechanics aren't that radical, just well polished. The graphics are amazing, but that's really a function of having the man power to pull it off building a game. At most the world building is where HL:A shines, but that's to be expected from the 4th (or 8th) release in the franchise.

I would add, VR headset sales seems to have dropped in 2019, but were projected to grow again in 2020 by analysts. So we may see see some increase in buyers here in our little niche of /r/SteamVR, thanks to word of mount, but who knows about mass market.

Ultimately, a good old fashion circle jerk doesn't means we're not in an echo chamber here on online. I mean any day now Bernie Sander's is getting that nomination, right? And Trump could never be elected again Hilldawg... and current events are simultaneously going to destroy the world and kill us all, while being mass hysteria that we can safely ignore...

So my point remains that simply saying "game changer" and walking away is hyperbolic.
