DMs and players of reddit; what is the most interesting backstory you've written for a character?

They're my first strictly D&D character, but I've written a lot of my own short stories in the past, and even if it's basic, I'm pretty proud of my creation.

She's a 6 year old Half Human, Half Aetherborn gunslinger. She was taken in as a child by one of the wealthiest families in the country, who made their millions through aether refinery. Because she grew up in high society looking slightly off (The whites of her eyes are dark grey and her irises glow bright gold, as well as being ghostly pale), she was never able to fit in with other nobles' children or families, and noticed that people typically only spent time with others like them, and that she didn't really fit in or belong anywhere.

Upon learning that her family's refineries are responsible for the creation of Aetherborn, she steals her family's heirloom treasure (a pair of revolvers) and blows up the entire group of refineries and warehouses.

Fast forward 8 months later to the start of the campaign, she's traveling the world with a pirate crew that dates back millennia, being researched by their second-in-command/local wizard. She uses the boat as transportation between major cities where she can continue going on this eco-terrorism fueled identity crisis, all the while sending all of her treasure back to keep her family afloat.

The entire campaign is about found family and what it means to be a person, so I thought she was a good fit. Her name is Glimmer and I became obsessed with her very quickly.
