EU referendum: Cameron announces date of vote(23rd of June)

Keep in mind that I'm trying to explain the sentiment, I don't actually want England to secede from the EU.

I think I get what you're saying...but, for instance, you mention the Euro. Other countries didn't join it- are they hated to? You mention that it would be great for you- but does it not factor in that it wouldn't be good for us? I mean, it's not even good for all of its members?

Thing is, England was a founding member (and a very important one too) so it was kind of expected to see them tag along, keeping the pound was the first wedge in the Union, especially since it was supposed to be "the" way to bind those countries together, a bit like a virtual blood pact.

As for the "wouldn't be good for us" it's kind of my point, it would have been just as good/bad for you as it was for the rest of us, it was a guarantee that our interests would be aligned and that when facing financial problems everyone would be pushing in the same direction, or at least do their best to get the EU out of danger. Every country made some concessions when the EU was created.
England decided to keep out and not take the same risks, whether or not it was a good decision doesn't change the fact that from an outsider standpoint England was seemingly not on the same page as the rest when it came to being a team player.

At the moment I think we are polling to stay in the EU...and haven't groups like UKIP been on the rise across the whole of Europe, not just the UK?

Well yes but as far as I know the whole anti-EU schtick isn't as prevalent as it is in Enlgand, most people want the EU to solve the migrant crisis but they don't feel that getting out of the EU would actually solve it nor make things better.
