Their pockets ARE the economy, as far as they're concerned

The trick is not to think of these as people trying to maintain stability in a legit way --- they are komodo dragons eating a buffalo over days. We are the buffalo. We twitch and moan occasionally as they bury their whole heads in our butts

Except unlike komodo dragons they take their heads out every once in a while to reassure us this how things are supposed to be going

Note the unreported story the other day of the $11trn "loan" to its own owning banks in 2019, a month or two before COVID officially got here.

We are witnessing the really bad kind of looting, not the ones where poors break windows and take trainers, but where rich basterds take everybody's flourishing-potential and dial back life expectancy for good measure

but this not weird, this is the guiding MO of decades of neoliberal policy

(Important to recall that neliberal policies are literal different froom those implement in fascist Germany and Italy -- public sector sell-offs and tax cuts. Thank goodness we didn't get the spooky armbands though!!!)
