Got an AirPort Extreme card for some of this new fangled “wireless fidelity networking”.

that anecdote can't be ruined by semantics. ask a question politely if you don't understand how something works (or worked) for someone else. i don't care if you or he were ever wrong, or ever think you're right.

"PPP can be used with IPX, AppleTalk, and other network/transport protocols, as well as with TCP/IP. To connect to the Internet, however, TCP/IP is required." "When PPPoE is used to send data, a PPP frame is created and encapsulated with a PPPoE header. This frame then becomes the payload of an Ethernet frame, which is sent over the Ethernet network."

could be he used PPP for AppleTalk and TCP/IP.. sharing and connecting how he pleased. where did any AirPort hardware or software sit? He sat, we know this much -- good enough. do computers and people call 'PPP' by the singular name 'PPP/Slip'? ..surely, for 20+ years now.

I'll delete this soon enough.. but you can be wrong for however long you like, if that's still voluntary.
