i’m black, african culture is a breeding ground for narcissists and it’s the same situation where the adults have been brought up thinking it’s right so the cycle of abuse is encouraged and rarely ends. The dismissal of abuse as “culture” needs to stop, but many of my peers who were also being abused by their parents under the guise of “culture” were brainwashed into thinking that your parents hit you and beat you into submission because they love you, it’s a sad, toxic cycle which i don’t see ending within cultures like ours soon, i really genuinely think they believe that’s what parental love actually is, it’s been drilled into their heads from their previous generations. I’m wishing you all the best, and i’m glad you’re able to recognise abuse because so many others sadly can’t. :(
