alright, my turn.

if your going to double down on an article at least get one where the researchers themselves are confident in the results. this was a poor study and let me explain why.

the pool of participants was extremely small, (17 participants), age and gender was not controlled. of the participants had a minimum tolerance break of one month but on average went on to over a year of no cannabis. previous smoking habits where not accounted for.

(it was not made clear if participants used both vaporizers (volcano i assume?) AND pipes, and guidelines suggest participants only smoked once a week so the participants may have only used one form but had all their scores put together with others)

so their small group was made up of people with tolerance and smoking experience all over the place, still we can get valid data out of this.

they only smoke once every week for 6 weeks, test determining "highness" where self report surveys and 3 computerized task.

other point is that they could only test up to 4 hours after taking the drug despite some people still reporting effects.

"The researchers say this suggests that blood testing isn't an accurate way to tell if someone is high or perhaps driving under the influence."

the researches also noted "We still don't have a full look at the long-term effects of vaping, such as whether there is a risk for chronic bronchitis" so we cant claim that vaping is safe.

but still the researches did say "There's a definite differences in the amount of drug making it into the blood when using a vaporizer versus smoking the drug" because on AVERAGE vaporizers test higher.

to my big problem with this study, THE WAY IT WAS SMOKED.

lets get something straight you said

"They threw up because they had too much and weed has negative effects in large quantities."

thats bullshit. the article states they had dosages ranging from 0 to 10 and up to 25mg of THC, which the researches noted

"The researchers say that 25 milligrams of THC is a relatively low dose, and much less than is typically found in pre-rolled cannabis "joints" sold in dispensaries where cannabis is legal."

so NO, it was not "too much"

"You don't smoke dabs buddy, you vaporize them"

you cant give me shit for this when the article you linked also refers to vaping as smoking multiple times.

BUT FINALLY, MY SCIENTIFICALLY BASED OPINION!

the researches made it clear that they only wanted to suggest the findings for infrequent users and it could not be applied for chronic users.

i think i know why, breathing style.

these people have not smoked in months, they are not going to utilize a pipe correctly with soft lungs, vaporizers are "smoother" so new smokers can draw in deeper before being too irritated.

i use every method of inhaling cannabis including a convection bud vaporizer, a pipe has to be the harshest method of smoking.

several problems come from them using this method over something like a bong.

think of it this way, when you hit a bong you empty your lungs and your initial inhale is making all the air pass through a burning bowl (i take it slow to reduce cherry temperature) and when you clear it that THICK DENSE SMOKE is instantly taken as you inhale outside air, if you do it properly all the smoke should make it before you reach half your lung capacity. the reason for this is that you push any smoke that would remain the bronchial tubes is forced down into the lower lungs where it fills up the lungs air sacks.

the big thing about his is that the smoke is very dense, because of this INCREASES rate of passive diffusion into the bloodstream. as the concentration of THC drops in the air sacks so does the rate of diffusion.

when you inhale from a pipe you are inhaling all of the smoke through the whole drag, as well as that it is also diluted with extra air pulled in at the mouth tip. this pretty much dilutes the smoke through your entire lungs so diffusion rate is lower to begin with.

there is also method of how they applied heat, if they where torching the bowl ever time they hit then ya those high temps would destroy SOME of the chemicals but the way i do it is i get the flames only close enough to reach the flash point of the bud.

also read more clearly, i never said coughing got me higher, it just made the onset more intense, the coughing action gets blood circulating and oxygen levels rise. it also feels like my blood pressure rises but i never checked it out.
