ULPT: JUST FUCKING LIE ON YOUR RESUME

I've seen this go both ways and I will tell you this: You do NOT want to rise to the high ranks on a fake resume. There is a clear ceiling and once you hit it, you find the highest level positions are represented by an industry wide fraternity of higher ups.

They all talk amongst themselves, help each other with careers and will quickly black ball someone who tries to break the ceiling in false pretense.

I know of someone who did this in the distrubtion industry and completely destroyed a 10+ year career and will probably never work on the industry again in any sort of management role.

Faked it until he made it into a back office senior leadership role. Day 1 it was clear that he was not only a boot licker but spout out shit to make himself seem smart or full of unique ideas. All his ideas came from competitors and we're full of details that only fellow senior managers would know. But he presented then as his own and got caught numerous times trying to be unique.

Finally the ball dropped when he was suddenly put in charge in the absence of fellow senior leaders. All of a sudden shit unraveled and his ignorance took over one of the largest buildings in the network. It was so bad that people started re-tracing his prior work experience and the big wigs talked among their cross company equals to find out who he was.

He was 100% phony. Not only did he lie about his degree, prior experience, he lied about his military record. He spent more time learning industry language, basic and advance theoretical knowledge through googling and just good Ole fashion bullshiting to weasel his way into interviews and positions.

The industry is known for people hopping companies for promotions so the fact that he was promoted every 2-3 years never bothered anyone.

But it eventually caught up to him. He quickly resigned, and jumped off the industry train all together. He deleted his LinkedIn and pretty much fell off the planet. Probably rejoining another team with a good Ole fashion paper application.
