Job losses and pay cuts

We do municipal work around the globe, 50/50 Europe vs US, we're all in US. Unlikely we'll see more than a bad quarter, maybe two.

I had told my boss proactively last week that I was fine with a temporary cut if it meant we kept everyone...

Well, earlier this week they cut 20% (some laid off, some 60 day furlough).

We're told everyone else got pay cuts, I know my circle is cut 15%, the fact that our C-team didn't trumpet their own sacrifice means they may not have taken much. We're not public, so will never know.

Today they talked about the quarter results: we beat our quarter goal.

So there was no urgent burning need to stop financial bleeding, they just decided that maybe Q2 will be bad, and they're so worried about their year end bonuses that they cut 20% of the staff off from income and health insurance during a global pandemic.

The executives are so out of touch one of them even wondered aloud at the start of the call why we had so few people on, asking "where is everybody? Seems like we're missing quite a few people", it was literately the amount let go...

Fucking assholes.
