Math Challenge

Word problems are easy to get confused by because our brains are designed to recognize math in numbers not words so they always seem more over whelming than they actually are. The easiest way to get through them is to write things down as you read them.

In this example, the wording goes on to explain what each pass wins, but after reading the whole question you can see that information isn't actually relevant because the question is about the number of passes not the number of awards, so ignore those. They're just there to confuse you.

The first step is to write down the numbers that are relevant. In this case, the ratio of silver, red and blue tickets to gold ( 3:11:19:15). This tells us that for every 3 gold tickets, there is 45 tickets of a different colour. So 3:45

So if we have 432 seats in total
