Like you would have stood up to the government that gave your life meaning. Also you seem to forget that the Soviet Union was as aggressive and equally responsible for the war. Hindsight is 2020 no? It's unfair to view the German people from the perspective of the results of the war after the fact.

One could argue that the Americans were invaders in a foreign land, and that our only excuse for fighting them was their association with the Imperial Japanese Government. But FDR started fighting that war well before the American people voted or decided which side to take; before Dec. 7 1941 many Americans sympathized with the Germans.

The real ones to blame are the "allies" in WWI, a war for which the victors are as much to blame but for which Germany was harshly punished. I fitting it was, I think, that the French and British paid so dearly for their criminal behavior in WWI, and how sad it is that after all of their treachery and deception they committed directly against the US, the US still sided with them in later conflicts.

After WWII the German people were enslaved and or degraded by their hosts. They were taught to be ashamed of who they were in the West parts, and we see the results today: a dying country.

The world wars represent one of the greatest injustices of human history from many many aspects, not just that of the allies.
