New ThunderCats Classic figures have been revealed! Have you subscribed to Club Third Earth yet?

I've been asked to clarify for anybody who has never attempted a transaction through Matty Collector. I will, since the Thundercats license will likely attract some new people that have no experience in trying to buy Ghostbusters, MOTU, or DCU figures through this 'service.' This is long because there's a lot to warn you about.

If you go to the link /u/Grantsgonist has provided, you can find information on how to subscribe to the monthly figure service. If you choose to subscribe, you can pay for the privilege of being forced to buy all of the figures, albeit at a discount that looks good on paper (until you add in the subscription fee and knock the savings down a bit), theoretically across the course of the year but as you can see, it will all be in a cluster. Not too bad-- it's a guarantee that you'll at least get these four toys at some point, if nothing else. Plus, you can always sell the ones you don't want on eBay for a guaranteed-huge profit. More on that in a bit. Also, this is provided that your transactions go off without a hitch. There's where the problems start.

To "sweeten the pot" on the subscription, they will offer exclusives(armor, weapons, smaller characters, alternate heads, etc) that either never materialize, delay other releases, arrive defective, or aren't so exclusive. The alternative is to fruitlessly attempt to catch the releases on the drop date for more money. The plus here is that if you only want Lion-O, you do not have to drop all that extra cash. However, there is a chance that the figures won't release on the right day, and yet will also mysteriously manage to sell out in minutes, despite a huge swath of the collecting community saying that they never ended up getting to order theirs. The figures that do arrive often have massive defects: two right hands, missing paint apps, damaged packaging. Matty will apologize, and offer recompense despite the horrific financial burden we are placing on them in doing so. Oh, woe..

In due time, whomever is in charge of Matty these days will release a statement on either the mailing list or through various toy news sites claiming Acts of God created the exact same problems with this year's service that they've had every single year since the beginning. They will bemoan (read that as 'threaten') that they must now cancel all their online figures unless crazy, preemptive sales goals for next year are met, then unceremoniously dump a ton of the figures and "exclusives" into the web store and Big Lots a couple months into next year. Around that time, they'll run a telethon-style campaign to solicit everyone who got burned to try subscribing again, or else the lines get cancelled and nobody gets the handful of core characters that they've still got hostage. They'll make 40% of the goal, but in the last ten minutes before the deadline they'll mysteriously receive in excess of the remaining 60% so now everyone is all in for another year.

TLDR: It's wiser and easier to accept that if you want these figures, you'll be saving yourself a ton of hassle if you pretend they're worth $80-$100 each and just get them off eBay. Matty Collector is a cesspool.
