I want to start research but don’t know where to seek guidance from

It is kind of sad that many foreign schools don't help with research and this leads to students paying people to add their names and other unethical routes. https://retractionwatch.com/2022/03/30/firing-publishing-ban-15-retractions-for-author-who-defrauded-co-authors-in-pay-to-publish-scheme/

It is good that you decided to learn instead. There are many ways to proceed. YouTube has many videos that can give you a basic starting idea of different types of research. You can start with a case report and search on YouTube about it. Develop an appetite to read journals and have a genuine interest in research rather than forcing yourself to do it just for your cv.

You can also reach out to your teachers because several med schools still conduct research. If your med school has a postgrad course then it is also very likely that they wont mind getting free help. You can get your name published with your seniors and get some experience.

You can also talk with your epidemiology professors and conduct small cross sectional studies. Eg. You can use pretested questionnaires to assess for various topics.

To analyze your results a basic knowledge of spss or R can be sufficient. Both have many videos on YouTube.

If you want to start from scratch, start with case reports esp if you have clinical exposure. Start from the most basic journal ie Cureus. Read their instructions to authors, read case reports published in that journal and try to understand how they expect authors to frame their work and the language used.

Tldr: YouTube, case reports , ur epidemiology profs and your postgrad seniors.
