Ok so to answer some questions I’m a disabled veteran. I have schizophrenia and PTSD. Some days I’m ok but holding a steady job isn’t possible I’ve tried multiple times after leaving the military. I live off my disability and I can’t ask parents for money. My father is dead and he was poor before that happened so that would be a no and my mother lives in poverty. The VA caused this and has been dragging their feet for 6 months trying ineffective treatments. They won’t give me the meds I actually need because I have medical marijuana and they will not prescribe me anything that’s a controlled substance while I have weed in my system but if I stop using cannabis my ptsd symptoms get worse which I’m turn gets my psychosis going. On top of that I’m coming out of an extremely abusive marriage and now she has filed with the court after obtaining a lawyer which I can not afford that I’m fact I was the abusive one. I’ve contacted a lawyer which was 250 dollars just to sit down with for 30 min. His retainer is unachievable for me so that not an option. I’ve looked into legal help against the VA for allowing me to suffer so long with this but no one is calling me back and going after the VA legally would be expensive. Some days I can see out of one eye like this morning and I’m doing my best not to have panic attacks from losing my sight. I sit in darkness most days and the voices are coming back so I don’t know how long I’ll be lucid or even capable of listening to any advice. This is the harsh truth for a lot of veterans who end up homeless. I’ll try to follow some of y’all’s advice because it seems genuine and good. Thank you so much for your help and support.
