"You just need to go outside more!!"

It really depends on how much you are willing to sacrifice. Okay if you're in a third world country earning $1/hour you might struggle to save enough, but I'm going to assume a lot of people who have this sentiment are from the west.

You might think "I have a career, I can't get more than 4 weeks off a year, it's not worth it"

I've met people travelling who have quit their jobs, travelled for a year and then found another company to work for on their return. Many people worry that a big gap on their resume will look bad, but honestly, most interviewers will be fascinated if not a little jealous at the experience. Employers value people with life experience.

Maybe you're thinking "I've got kids, I can't leave them and I can't take them with me."

I've met parents travelling long-term with their kids, one couple had 3 young kids with them and I"ll tell you those kids were getting the education of a lifetime, they were also homeschooled on the move.

The fact is, after flights, there are plenty of places where $3000 will easily last you a year, especially if you work as you move.

I do know that there are some people that can't possibly travel because of dependents or money issues, but I've met so many people, from so many countries and backgrounds, rich, poor, min wage, salaried, smart, not-so-smart, lazy and disciplined, and they all found a way to live their dreams.

A lot of it comes down to what it's worth to you. If it's something you really want, there are probably sacrifices you can make to make it happen.
